Nathan and Ellie Fike // Japan

Nathan and Ellie (and Heidi) are currently stationed in West Asia, where they are immersed in language and cultural acquisition training. This season provides an opportunity to learn the language, grow in cultural understanding, practice hospitality, and engage in intensive coursework alongside mentors who have walked this path before them. This period of preparation is essential to equipping them to serve faithfully and persevere in the mission for the long haul.

  • Pray that the Lord would continue to deepen the unity they have within their marriage and that they would be able to find times of rest during busyness.
  • Pray that the Lord would provide connections with locals that develop into genuine friendships. 
  • Pray that they would learn the language and culture well to be effective in their work.
  • Pray for the Japanese people, that many would be given new hearts to love the Lord!

Risen Hope // Summerville

Risen Hope is a Charleston Baptist Association partner in Summerville. Risen Hope Church exists to glorify God as we treasure, apply, and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Recently, one of their pastors, Christopher Warren, fell and tore tendons and meniscus in both knees and suffered a broken knee cap. He has to keep his knees straight for four weeks with several weeks of Physical therapy afterwards. After knee surgery he experienced a blood clot that passed through his heart into both lungs. He is currently in the ER and will be removed from pastoral ministry for  several months. 

  • Pray for the Warren family as Christopher recovers from these emergencies. Pray that the Lord would provide for their needs. Pray that the Lord would provide healing to his body and comfort to their souls.
  • Pray for the pastoral staff as they care for the Warren family and the additional responsibilities in Christopher's absence.
  • Pray that the saints at Risen Hope would be rooted in the gospel and growing together in grace.

"But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ--by grace you have been saved." - Ephesians 2:4-5

We've experienced the great love and rich mercy of God who, when we were dead, made us alive together with Christ! Now we're those who experience the blessings in Christ Jesus that Paul lists in Ephesians 1: love, adoption, security, redemption, forgiveness of sins, riches of grace, wisdom, knowledge of his will, an inheritance and the guarantee of our inheritance. We know these blessings and realize not all who are around us have the same knowledge. 

  • Pray for those individually who we are, or can be, sharing the gospel with. 
  • Pray that we would be faithful as his chosen people and live godly and honorable lives among our neighbors.
  • Pray that the Lord would continue to open doors for us to engage the students and staff at FDHS. 
  • Pray that the Lord would provide opportunities to love our neighbors and share the gospel as we do face painting at the Whitehall Fall Festival.
